One of the two Wendy’s ground-up drive thru projects we are working on was just completed! They opened their doors for business last week at the corner of Western Avenue and Adams Street in Chicago. Check out the time lapse video of the project from start to finish! Job-site cameras are one of the ways that we are utilizing technology to provide trust, transparency, and peace of mind to our clients. At any given time, the Wendy’s project manager can go to the camera link and get a real time view of the project. Weekly reports and the day to day communication still occur, but taking advantage of the technology available to the AEC industry is what keeps Macon ahead of the competition.

Macon was hired by Chicagoland Restaurants LLC to build the first new free-standing, ground-up, drive-thru prototype design in the Chicagoland Market. Chicagoland Restaurants LLC is the Krispy Kreme Franchisee that owns the development rights for the Chicagoland Area with ownership based in Miami and they were looking for a local GC that they could partner with as they entered an unfamiliar market. We worked very closely with the client to provide complete transparency into the real costs of this new design so that they could see where the cost cutting opportunities exist as they plan to develop additional locations. This new prototype had only been built in North Carolina and building conditions are very different here in Illinois. By working with the architect, engineers, and Krispy Kreme corporate PM, we were able to value engineer the design based on local codes and conditions and save the client time and money. Our PM team handled every detail of the project so that the client could focus on the opening of the new 24-hour drive-thru.
