Macon just completed the landlord AND the Starbucks tenant work on this new drive-thru located at Mannheim and Grand Ave in Franklin Park. The benefits of being the general contractor for both landlord and tenant are often overlooked but it helps to save time and money for all parties involved. The #1 benefit of this arrangement is no finger pointing! No trying to figure out whether to call the landlord’s general contractor or the tenant’s general contractor when they are one in the same!

Starbucks has relocated their cafe store to the Home Depot out-lot across Elston Avenue and now have a drive-thru window – on of the few drive-thru locations in the Chicago City limits. We completed this project on time and on budget and the coffee is flowing!
Macon was hired by Chicagoland Restaurants LLC to build the first new free-standing, ground-up, drive-thru prototype design in the Chicagoland Market. Chicagoland Restaurants LLC is the Krispy Kreme Franchisee that owns the development rights for the Chicagoland Area with ownership based in Miami and they were looking for a local GC that they could partner with as they entered an unfamiliar market. We worked very closely with the client to provide complete transparency into the real costs of this new design so that they could see where the cost cutting opportunities exist as they plan to develop additional locations. This new prototype had only been built in North Carolina and building conditions are very different here in Illinois. By working with the architect, engineers, and Krispy Kreme corporate PM, we were able to value engineer the design based on local codes and conditions and save the client time and money. Our PM team handled every detail of the project so that the client could focus on the opening of the new 24-hour drive-thru.
Construction is under way on Lincoln Park’s new luxury residences known as Norweta Row. This exciting new development will feature 32 residences and a host of unique amenities such as a community pool, solarium, guest suite, hammock park, rock wall and more. The former location of the Tag Outlet has been demolished and work has begun on construction. Macon is proud to be part of the Broder Worldwide team on this truly “one of kind” project.

The Herbal Care Center, located at 1301 S. Western Ave. in Chicago, opened on February 6th after a transformational renovation of a former Firestone Tire Center. This is the second medical marijuana facility Macon Construction has completed since they were approved in the state of Illinois. The project was initially supposed to be 16 weeks long with a drop-dead completion date that was dictated by the State for inspections. We knew at the start of this project that it would be tight due to the amount of work to be done and the poor condition of the abandoned building, but we were confident we could hit our date. The stringent security regulations a medical marijuana dispensary requires presents challenges that are not typical of other projects, but our previous experience proved invaluable. To make things even more challenging, construction start was delayed 4 weeks due to permitting issues with the city, but the state completion deadline remained the same. The client had no option – it had to be done on the original completion date or their license would be at risk. Our superintendent and project management team were up to the challenge and after many long hours and weekends they delivered the space in time for state inspections – in just 12 weeks – 4 weeks faster than the original schedule.
Located just across I294 from O’Hare, this vibrant new mall offers a great mix of retailers to please any shopper. Macon just completed the newest addition to the mix – DAVIDsTEA – where you can choose from over 150 types of tea, including exclusive blends, limited edition seasonal collections, traditional straight teas and exotic infusions from around the globe. The new ground-up drive thru is located just south of I-55 on Pulaski. It is the first LEED Certified project for Wendy’s in the Chicagoland area.
